Indiana Jones has already climbed the stairs!

Home

The world premiere of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny took place Thursday night at an official screening at the Grand Théâtre Lumière that very few media representatives were able to attend. The screening for journalists is indeed scheduled for this Friday, as well as the press conference with the team of this film directed by James Mangold, at the center of which will obviously be Harrison Ford. We know that the latter, who was awarded a Palme d'Or of honor Thursday, has already said that after this fifth film part, he hung for good hat and whip. I will, of course, talk to you about all this in more detail in Saturday's La Presse.

Indiana Jones has already climbed the stairs!

Since the pandemic, major film festivals have been operating with ticketing systems for journalists who are already accredited. This creates many additional anxieties, and also, sometimes, failures. The Hollywood Reporter echoed the Festival's "misstep" during the screening of Pedro Almodóvar's short film Strange Way of Life. The meeting with the Spanish filmmaker attracted so many prestigious guests that several journalists duly equipped with tickets were turned away, including, reports from the Hollywood Reporter, two journalists from their organization, as well as Justin Chang, of the Los Angeles Times. Even Janet Yang, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which oversees the Oscars, couldn't get in. The special envoy of La Presse feels all the more privileged to have been able to attend this event which, on Wednesday, supplanted all others.

This rule is here to stay

Having directed the Warner studio for 25 years in France, Germany, Austria, and Benelux, Iris Knobloch now assumes the presidency of the Cannes Film Festival. Asked by Le Film français about the relationship between the Festival and the platforms, Pierre Lescure's successor stays the course. "We felt this perception that the Festival prohibited the presence of platform films in the selection. However, they have always been welcome, but with a simple rule: a work in competition must provide for a theatrical release in France. Today we are the only festival to claim this position. At this stage, there is no reason to change it. »
