WHAT IS A HI-FI SYSTEM AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

First of all, we must come back to the term 'hi-fi'. This means 'high fidelity' in English. In other words, this device is named to mean that the sound is faithfully transmitted thanks to the elements that compose it.

Among them are:

A source: CD player, jack, Bluetooth, turntable...
An amplifier: it receives the signal from the source and amplifies it before sending it to the speakers.
Speakers: they receive the signal from the amplifier and create the sounds that will form the music. There are at least two of them to exploit the stereo.
Connecting cables: These connect all of these elements together. Without them, there is no sound!

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF HI-FI SYSTEMS

There are three main types of hi-fi systems, meeting different needs:

Classic or composite hi-fi systems

These hi-fi systems have an imposing size allowing them to offer a very powerful and quality sound. Music lovers will love them.

They have the advantage of being scalable, i.e. you can arrange and improve your equipment as you go along, for example by adding turntables, wall speakers, a subwoofer, etc.

Mini or micro hi-fi systems

They look like classic channels, but in mini format. Perfect for an apartment, these versatile models can be easily placed on a shelf or on a piece of furniture for a minimal footprint.

The sound of a mini or micro hi-fi system will be less powerful than on a conventional system because the speakers and amplifier are smaller, but this does not prevent them from faithfully transcribing the sound, hence the name 'hi-fi'.

Portable channels

Compact and lightweight, they can be easily transported to listen to music in the living room, kitchen or bathroom, the speakers being directly integrated into the amp.

But then, what are the differences with a connected speaker? While the latter simply transcribes the audio content of the smartphone or computer via Bluetooth, the portable hi-fi system adds the possibility of playing CDs, files stored on a USB key or listening directly to the radio. You can also plug in a jack cable to listen to the audio content of your computer. Most models also offer the alarm function, which is very practical. Last but not least, the audio quality is better.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT HI-FI SYSTEM?
To make sure you don't make a mistake in choosing the model, here are the criteria to take into account:

Power: to choose the right power, it's up to you to see in what context the hi-fi system will be used: for parties? To put on a background of music? To relax? Depending on this, you can choose the appropriate model, knowing that the larger the size of the room, the higher the power you will have to choose.
