THE DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES FOR A TV

- OLED: this model first comes from smaller devices such as smartphones. It then adapted to televisions, thus entering the high-end market. Light-emitting diodes are passed through by an electric current and thus produce light. Devices with this system are extremely thin and offer very beautiful colors. Energy consumption is lower than the first model.
- Quantum dot: this system works thanks to nano crystals. Subjected to an electric current, they emit light. The projected colors are therefore perfectly intact with extremely fine shades. The energy consumption is very decent and the price more affordable than the previous model.
THE DIFFERENT POSSIBLE DEFINITIONS FOR A TELEVISION
The definition of a television is the number of pixels on the screen. The more pixels, the more detail there is in the image. There are three main models:
- HD: this is the standard today with 1920 pixels horizontal and 1080 vertical.
- 4K: This definition is used in cinema. It is four times more defined and detailed than the standard model with 4096 pixels horizontally and 2160 pixels vertically.
- 8K: this is the highest definition, worthy of excess. The panel is composed of 7680 pixels horizontally and 4360 pixels vertically. The rendering offers a detailed and uniquely fine image for an authentic experience. However, there is still little content in 8K.

This technology, whose full name stands for High Dynamic Range, has the ability to reproduce the lightest but also the darkest details. To choose the best television, several criteria must be taken into account:
- Height: This is expressed in inches or centimeters. Your television should be a good distance from your sofa so as not to strain your eyes. To determine the right size TV for your living room, you need to estimate the setback distance. The recommended distance is 1.2 times the diagonal of the screen. There are charts to know the exact measurement for optimal comfort. For a 75-inch TV or 190 cm, the ideal setback distance is 90 inches or 2.3 m.
- The screen: it can be flat or slightly curved. The latter offers total immersion and reduces eye fatigue. The TV creates a panoramic effect, similar to cinema screens.
- Connectivity: Make sure your device has multiple HDMI ports to connect outdoor devices such as a Blu-ray player, set-top box or game console. Ideally, you should have HDMI 2.0 sockets to benefit from HD and 4K definition.
- The frame rate: This is also called the refresh rate. It corresponds to the number of images displayed by the television per second. It is expressed in Hertz.
