This splendid indoor palm, the areca (or chrysalidocarpus lutescens), would have depolluting properties: it would be effective in, absorbing toluene and xylene. Note that Areca humidifies the air, making it the perfect companion to alleviate winter dryness in your office.

To avoid spoiling anything, it brings a pretty exotic touch to your home workspace with its aerial foliage and is very easy to maintain. Give it a bright location (without direct sunlight) and water it regularly, letting the substrate dry slightly between two waterings and never letting water stagnate in the saucer. You can also spray the leaves and stems of your areca with non-calcareous water (rainwater is perfect).

Chlorophytum (or chlorophytum comosum) is known to be a depolluting houseplant: it absorbs benzene, toluene, carbon monoxide, but also odours and smoke. Its long, thin, supple leaves have earned it the nickname "spider plant" or "hairy chlorophytum". To take advantage of its graceful drooping habit, place it high up on one of the shelves of your desk. You can also suspend it.

Chlorophytum thrives in bright offices (without direct sun) but also does well in shade and partial shade. Water it moderately and offer it a little fertilizer in the spring. Note that its cuttings are child's play thanks to the seedlings that grow at the end of long stolons.

Especially since the spathiphyllum is an undemanding houseplant: it appreciates bright locations (without direct sun) and regular watering (let the soil dry out between 2 waterings). Avoid drafts.
